Who we write for
Our guides are written to help older homeowners, their families, and caregivers compare practical options for making a home safer, easier to use, and more suitable for long-term living. We aim for a calm, respectful tone and plain English — no jargon, no scare tactics, no pressure.
How we source information
- We prefer official and neutral sources: federal and state agencies, Area Agencies on Aging, Veterans Affairs, consumer protection resources, and recognised professional bodies.
- Where an article references a product category, program, or price, we note that details vary by provider and location.
- We do not present opinion as fact and we avoid absolute claims.
Review and updates
Guides are reviewed periodically. When we make meaningful changes — for example, because a program's rules change — we update the article. If you spot an error or something out of date, please tell us through the Contact page using the "Article correction" topic.
Independence and commercial relationships
Older Home Options is independent. Some guides may include optional referral links or introductions to service providers. When this applies, we disclose it clearly on the page. We may receive a referral fee, but this does not affect the price you pay and it does not change the substance of our guidance. Our editorial recommendations are not for sale.
What our content is not
Our content is educational. It is not medical, legal, financial, construction, or safety advice. Please consult qualified professionals before making decisions.
